Overview

Following an executive shakeup and the arrival of a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), a luxury jewelry brand faced a critical gap in executive-level reporting. Without a cohesive way to track company performance, leadership lacked visibility into key business metrics. Their resource-constrained analytics and strategy teams struggled without clear direction or leadership sponsorship, making data collection and reporting a slow, time-intensive process.

The absence of an efficient, automated system to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across Brand, Product, and Channel further complicated decision-making. To address these challenges, the company realized a need for enhanced reporting catered to an executive audience.

We collaborated with the client to gain a deep understanding of their analytics environment, data sources, and reporting needs to build a C-level KPI dashboard. This dashboard would consolidate data, provide real-time insights, and enable executives to make strategic decisions more efficiently.

While they had already identified the key performance indicators (KPIs) they wanted to track, they needed guidance on structuring, visualizing, and delivering the data in a way that would be actionable for executives and business unit leaders.

Our team designed and implemented a C-level KPI dashboard that consolidated data from multiple sources, including the enterprise data warehouse and manually entered Excel files. This created a single source of truth, providing accuracy and consistency in performance monitoring.

To build the solution, we leveraged a combination of Snowflake for data storage and processing, MS Excel for manual data inputs, and Tableau for interactive visualization and reporting. We also recommended Tableau Pulse, a feature that delivered real-time insights and enhanced the dashboard’s utility for executives.

Results

The project was a resounding success, exceeding our client’s expectations and enabling enhanced reporting and decision-making faster than anticipated.

Our initial effort culminated in an on-site delivery, where the Concord team presented an early working version and discussed future priorities. The CFO and leadership team were highly impressed, with the client stating, “Your team has left a remarkable impression on our organization.”
